About Us
Hawleywood Bubbles didn't start with a business plan, a logo, or even the right ingredients. It started with a simple, fun DIY project — just me, Amanda, a single mom from Montrose, Pennsylvania, and my two kids, my daughter (8) and my son (5), trying to make something cool at home in 2021. I made our very first bath bomb, and it was… not good. I posted it on Facebook anyway — not to show off, but more of a “haha, look at what I just made, what even happened?” kind of moment. But people were curious, and friends and family wanted to try. So I kept going. What followed was a real, humbling, hands-on education in what NOT to do — a notebook filling up fast with failed experiments, wrong ingredients, and hard lessons about why you don’t improvise, cut corners, substitute ingredients, or just “make it work.” Some lessons were learned the hard way. Like the time I thought eyeshadow would work as a colorant. It did not. My son spent the rest of the day covered in blue spots like a very confused little creature — and we have never laughed harder. (For the record: please use cosmetic-grade colorants. You’re welcome.) After batch after batch and a notebook full of what NOT to do, I finally got it right. The first ones I proudly posted with good results were the Pokéball and the Candy Corn — and that’s when the real response came in. And through all of it, my daughter and son were right there with me. That summer turned into one of the best we’ve ever had — experiments, learning, bubbles, fizz, and more than a few outdoor pools that are now extremely clean and smell absolutely amazing. By the time summer was over, we hadn’t just made bath bombs — we’d built something together.
Fun fact: the photo on our Candy Corn Bath Bomb product page? That’s the actual original batch — the very one that started it all. It was good enough to sell then, and it’s still the one we’re proud to show today.
When I decide I want to learn something, I go all in. My ADHD hyperfocus kicked in hard and I dove headfirst into everything there was to know about bath bombs — the chemistry, the ingredients, the formulation, the technique. I spent days and weeks staying up all night researching, taking notes, reading everything I could find. I wanted to understand not just how to make them, but why everything works the way it does. And there is a lot more to it than most people realize. Humidity, temperature, and altitude all affect the outcome. The brand of baking soda matters. The order you add ingredients matters. Even being just a few grams off in a recipe can change everything. These are the kinds of details that separate a bath bomb that actually performs from one that just… sits there. Learning all of it became an obsession — and honestly, it still is. To this day, when I discover something new or get an idea I think could be amazing, I’ll disappear down that rabbit hole all over again — notes everywhere, tabs open until 3am, completely absorbed. It’s just how I’m wired. And it’s a big part of why our products are as good as they are.
We started on Etsy, and it served its purpose — but it had its limits. The platform fees and costs meant I had to charge more than I was comfortable with, and that didn’t sit right with me. But more than that, Etsy is a wall of results. My products were sitting in the same pool as people making bath bombs in the same mixer they used for brownies, maybe with a pot of spaghetti going on the stove next to them. I’m not judging anyone’s journey — that was me once too. But I had grown far beyond that, and my products had too. When customers recommended us, they’d say “I got it on Etsy” — and that just didn’t feel right anymore. These products are premium. They’re made in a dedicated, sanitized production space with professional ingredients and years of hard-won expertise behind every batch. They deserve their own name, their own platform, and their own identity. So that’s what I built.
Every year, Hawleywood Bubbles has grown — and I mean that literally. Each time we’ve outgrown our space, we’ve moved the lab and leveled up. It’s become something of a tradition: as the new year rolls in, so does a new chapter. What started on a kitchen counter has transformed into a fully equipped production space with stainless steel tables, over 80 professional-grade ingredients, professional beakers and tools, and more than 140 scents and molds to work with. And last year, I took it a step further — becoming formula certified through professional online coursework, which means I’m now qualified to formulate all kinds of skincare products from scratch. I’ve chosen to keep our focus on bath bombs because that’s where our heart is, but that certification shows up in everything we make — and we do carry a select range of other body care items as well. We’re not the same operation we were last year — and next year, we’ll be even better.
Hawleywood Bubbles is now a dedicated small business with a real production space — clean, sanitized, and built for bath bomb magic. No more improvising. No more cutting corners. Just pure, premium ingredients that I’ve researched, tested, and trust enough to use on my own kids.
• Every product is still handmade by me, in small batches, to keep my freakishly high standards.
• If I wouldn’t be thrilled to receive it myself, it’s not going out the door.
• We also carry a full collection of all-natural, vegan, organic, fragrance-free, and dye-free bath bombs for every need.
What Goes Into Our Products
As a mom, I am not casual about ingredients. Everything I use has been researched, tested, and vetted — and then tested again on my own kids before it ever goes into a product for yours. We use only cosmetic-grade colorants, safe fragrances, and nourishing oils. No shortcuts, no mystery ingredients, no “close enough.” If I don’t fully trust it, it doesn’t make the cut. That’s not a marketing line — it’s just how we operate.
What Our Customers Say
We built our reputation on Etsy, where Hawleywood Bubbles earned over 1,000 reviews with a 4.8-star rating. In all that time, we have never received a single quality complaint — not one. The only stars we’ve ever missed were for shipping or delivery, which is honestly something no small business has full control over. But the product? The product has never let anyone down. We’re proud of that, and we intend to keep it that way.
Our Promise to You
Every order that leaves our production space has been made with care, checked for quality, and packed with the same standards I hold for my own family. If something ever isn’t right, I will make it right — no runaround, no hassle. That’s the Hawleywood Bubbles guarantee.
Real business. Real products. Built by a mom and her kids, one bubble at a time.
